I stayed on for 2012 and then joined Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Campaign.
Now, let’s talk about Joe Biden & Kamala Harris’ 2020 Campaign!

Joe & Kamala Everywhere

I produced digital ads in hundreds of designs and specs for the 2020 election. If you were online, there’s a good chance you saw my ads on Facebook, YouTube, Daily Mail, CBS, Yahoo, Reddit, CNN, Fox News, Buzzfeed, Univision, AOL and everywhere else. I also designed citywide advertising mock-ups for Arizona voters, newspaper ads in Delaware, social media campaigns and more!

Advertising Superheroes

Every Presidential Campaign I’ve worked with has felt like an advertising flash mob. Small teams pop up for different issues in a swirling mass of purpose. It grows fast combining the professionalism of the biggest names in advertising with brightest new talent available. All of us driven and excited to be part of the team. On Election Day the Agency disperses like an apparition. We all go back to our lives in the America we hoped to make a better place. ….We also get to sleep again. Seriously, its like having three jobs.

It Was a Privilege

I worked with the most incredible professionals on this campaign. We were in daily contact making gargantuan efforts to mobilize an entire country to vote for Joe Biden.

I’d especially like to thank Patrick Bonsignore for bringing me on board and putting together a fantastic media team and setting such a great professional tone. Also, Media Project Leaders and Al-Wranglers, Annie Adair (Persuasion) and Oren Fliegelman (Mobilization) for all of your patience with me. Both of your writing and direction made a huge difference for the campaign and our daily contact kept me cool for months!

And I don’t want to forget Jing Qu, who made sure I and countless others were in the right place at the right time, doing the right things everyday. She may have had the most headaches of any of us, if not the finest crafted mugs in the history of Zoom meetings.

Death to Disclaimers

Do you write disclaimers? Please, you’ve got to think this through visually. We cannot use 50% of space on an ad for a disclaimer. This is a legal problem that keeps getting dumped in my lap to stuff into designs.
An actual law would help. Maybe select one font, point size and character count (Like, Helvetica Narrow, 11/11pt, 80 chars). If the disclaimer is too long, just write something like “Visit site for disclaimer”. I’d love to help fix this issue. Call me if you are a lawyer. Maybe we can heal some old wounds… together.

Decency in Advertising

Not one of the ads I made was in anyway negative about the opposing candidate. Ads didn‘t label him a liar, criminal, or an extortionist. They didn’t call out his slimy business dealings or icky friends. Not a disparaging word about four years of gas lighting and ineptitude. There was no revelation about his lack of familiarity with acting like a human being or anything about his overt tax fraud. Nope, he was never mentioned at all. This campaign maintained a level of dignity and respect for the opponent like none other. It was a privilege to be part of of such professionalism and to keep my personal feelings out of my work.

If you want to see negative ads for Trump, you should check out the ones I did for Mike Bloomberg 2020, or the animated ones for Hillary Clinton. Those were great.
